CAT OF THE WEEK! Our ‘Queen of the Cats’, Miss KEY, has been here longer than any other cat resident. She first came to us in March of 2011 when her family had to move and couldn’t take her. That was over 4 years ago. That’s just wrong! It’s time she passed her crown off to the next in line and moved on to a new kingdom. Key is a long-hair, black & orange tortoiseshell, about 10 yrs old. She’s not the cat that will run up to greet you when you walk in the shelter. As a typical torti she tends to be a bit aloof and sometimes cranky. You must wait until she’s ready for an audience and then she will grace you with her presence and accept your attempts to give her affection. She’s been known to crawl up on the lap a few volunteers when they take the time to sit down by her. So in the right home she will soon become a lap cat. Just be sure you have plenty of time because she won’t want to get up until she is ready, regardless of your schedule. A quiet home with a senior or 2 would be perfect for Key. Even an assisted living apartment would be fine for her – no need for her to get out and explore the big world. She’ll be happy just keeping you company on the sofa while you read the paper or watch some TV. When you’re away, she’ll find a cozy place to snuggle up for a nap and wait patiently for your return. If you have concerns about adopting a senior cat, please ask about our fospice program. Then you will have no worries about future vet bills or what to do if / when you are no longer able to care for a pet. Now that your mind is eased on that subject, please come in meet Miss Key. You might just have that perfect lap she's been waiting for.
