Frankie’s Big Day! Feral. It’s not a term you hear very often with dogs available for adoption but with Frankie, that was his story in a nutshell. Caught in Christmas Valley and said to be a stray, we soon found out that the real story was that Frankie had been a dog running wild for years. This Catahoula Leopard mix arrived at BrightSide in September of 2013. Frankie never wanted the touch of a human when he arrived, not knowing what it was to be a dog and only giving the look of vacancy in his eyes. Our trainers immediately went to work and with each touch, walk, brush, fetch, nuzzle, treat, and sometimes just a simple interaction it was amazing to see the light in Frankie’s eyes twinkle. But we knew there needed to be so much more for Frankie. It would be the amazing love and care of a foster home, now turned forever home of Kathy and Art that gave Frankie the world he deserved. Today we saw that in the wag of his tail and the hello’s he gave each of the staff. He knew he was loved by his new family and you could see it with every move he made. This was no longer the dog that had walked through our doors as a feral dog, this was Frankie and Frankie was in his forever home. We could never say enough thank you’s to Kathy and Art. They have fostered Frankie for 3 months before today’s adoption day to make sure that Frankie could handle a home situation. You both have given so much to Frankie and to BrightSide. Thank you to everyone who worked with Frankie, everyone who volunteered with Frankie, and to Kathy and Art…. We thank you the most. Congratulations to you and Mr. Frankie!!! Below we have posted photos from today and pictures from 3 months ago when he left to head out to his new foster home. Getting in the car was the scariest part!
