Please remember our homeless animals this holiday season

The holidays are upon us, bringing family and (furry) friends together to celebrate the season.
It’s also a busy time where it’s easy to get so caught up in our daily activities that we forget what is really important. We find ourselves rushing around for the perfect wrapping paper or finding last-minute gifts and this pressure prevents us from remembering the very real stress of local animals waiting to find a family to call their own. Your gift to BrightSide Animal Center will help struggling local animals find forever homes throughout the year, not simply during the holiday season.

Pabla was one of the puppies rescued from a Korean meat-dog operation.

Pabla, one of the rescued Korean dogs

This year, in cooperation with other area shelters, we even reached across the ocean to rescue dogs. They were doomed to a short life entirely spent in small kennels as they were being prepared for the Korean food industry.  These poor animals could barely lift themselves to their feet when we rescued them.  Many were even unable to walk.
We are so proud that our staff and volunteers worked to strengthen the Korean dogs, including Pabla, pictured here, to get them back on their feet and able to walk and run again, and ready to become family dogs.  Most importantly, we found them loving homes so they each could have the family they needed and deserved. We accomplished our mission.
But it is a very expensive mission.  BrightSide loses money on every animal that enters the shelter, as the cost of medical exams, vaccinations, spay or neuter surgery, microchipping, training if needed, and everyday care and feeding is far more than we can recover from adoption fees.

Your help is essential to maintaining these services and helping BrightSide accomplish its goals to provide shelter and placement in forever homes and reduce animal homelessness.
• $30 provides a week’s worth of kitten food
• $50 supports testing four cats for FIV (feline immunodeficiency virus) and FeLV (feline leukemia virus)
• $100 pays for a shelter dog spay or neuter surgery
• $300 supplies a month’s worth of cat litter
Your BrightSide Animal Center donation can extend the holiday season for the animals in our community and provide the gift of care for them year-round.
Thank you for your generosity!
