Secret to Adoption Success — flexibility fueled by love Animals in our shelter are under stress (loud animal and people noises, strange environment, no person to call their own, strange dog walkers coming with leashes, kennel staff with food bowls asking for a "sit" first, Doc and Cathy holding rectal thermometers coming at them, being hauled up the front to say hi to veritable strangers). So we report what we see the animal doing in our shelter with some guesses as to how they will be once they get into a home (typically a little less frantic if they are frantic, a little more perky if they are shut down)….it's a guess and one based on hearing from hundreds of adopters over years…but it sure is a guess. A lovely couple adopted June and Willie from us in February and we thought they would be mellow beagles with some life but still kinda mellow. Thank heavens Kellan and her husband have senses of humor and love that goes for miles…… "On February 15 we brought home June and Willie, two adult beagles who we thought would be happy just to chill on the couch. Boy were we wrong, these two have kept us active everyday and brought so much fun to a pretty quiet house. We love these guys! And Thank You to Brightside Animal Center for taking such good care of them until we picked them up!"
