We are looking for a foster home for this wonderful young, 50 pound collie mix dog — JJ. JJ was brought to us about a month ago by a good samaritan who found him loose on the street. We quickly fell in love with JJ and have worked on basic obedience and even taken him to a nearby doggie day care (where he did great!). JJ has responded, but not as fast as what we'd like and the shelter stress is getting to him. We believe JJ did not receive the oh-so-necessary puppy exposure to life and all its variations (aka "socialization") that allows a dog as an adult to handle change and new circumstances with ease. We know that at this point what JJ needs is to get into a home where he can continue to improve on the skills he has learned with us. The optimal foster home would have experienced dog owners who could spend some time letting JJ relax away from the shelter stress and learn what seems so simple to us — that life, an obedient life, and all its marvelous variations is good. JJ seems to get along with cats and other dogs, and he rides in a car like a dream. Please contact us if you could find room in your heart and home to help this beautiful young boy.
