Become A Volunteer!
Volunteers are at the heart of everything we do. Whether you’re walking dogs, comforting cats, helping at events, or supporting our thrift store, your time makes a real difference for animals in need.
Our volunteers have already been very busy this year, as you can see below:
Steps To Become a Volunteer:
To cover the cost of your gear and onboarding, there is a fee of $25.00. During your orientation, you’ll receive your BSAC shirt, name badge, and pay that fee.
STEP 1:
Complete an online application.
Once complete a team member will be in touch shortly! If you’re interested in working hands-on with our pets, you will also be required to take an online fear-free certification course.
STEP 2:
Attend an in-person orientation.
This is where you are onboarded as a BrightSide volunteer and learn about volunteer opportunities!
STEP 3:
To work with our dogs:
Join a hands-on training session with a BrightSide team member to deepen your knowledge of animal safety and proper handling.
Please choose the type of volunteer you want to become:
To get started, complete the corresponding Volunteer Application and attend a General Orientation to learn about BrightSide, safety protocols, and available roles.
Please Note: Junior volunteers (ages 10–17) must be accompanied at all times by a parent or guardian and are not eligible to walk dogs. For court mandated community service, please visit our community service page.

BrightSide Animal Center is seeking dedicated individuals to join our Board of Directors. We are looking for candidates who are passionate about our mission and are ready to contribute to the growth of our organization.
The ideal candidate will be someone who has a strong network of connections. We especially welcome individuals with expertise in human resources, law, finance, and those who bring an entrepreneurial mindset to the table.
