Bright Beginnings

Photos of Brightside Animal CenterIt’s been an incredible two years during my time at Brightside Animal Center. I take with me so many memories of all the wonderful people and of course the dogs that everyday tugged at my heart and kept me up at night. We started with the Good Dog Program, which focused on training 4 dogs at a time. Soon 4 turned to 100s. We had our hands full. At times we shed tears and other times laughed jubilantly at how silly a dog can be. With that said, working with shelter dogs can be really fun and at times, emotional. I will say there were moments, it seemed like we took 1 step forward and then 3 steps back, but what a joyous step forward it always was! In the end, there was nothing that brought more happiness than seeing one of our dogs walking out the front door with their new human. It was wonderful working with all the adopters and of course, those who attended the training classes. To all of you, keep up the great work! Like many other people, I too leave Brightside as a foster failure. Yes, Chance. Chance is truly an inspiration for all of us. He lived through a horrific event and now after all of the surgeries and healing, he loves everyday of living. He makes me laugh many, many times a day. I am so fortunate to have him in my life! I promise Dr. Byrd, I will protect him and take care of him to the best of my abilities! You don’t have to hunt me down….lol. Keep up the great work Brightside staff and volunteers! The dogs couldn’t make it without your dedication and care. You are all their temporary family until that forever ones arrive. Last, but not least, thanks to everyone who have supported me. I’m so fortunate to be a part of the Brightside family. I will miss you all!
