The Power of a Foster Home! The dog Jericho, 4 year old husky mix, came back to us after a few years. We always ask if something happens the adopters return the dog to us — we hope nothing does happen, of course, but we retain a life time commitment to our animals. Jericho was scared, shut down, and definitely was fearful of men. Along came Pauline, a nice woman who has a life-long love affair with cats (she has 9) and husky dogs. Pauline met Markus (new name) and offered to foster him. We were only too glad to say yes. Pauline spent two weeks learning all about Markus, working with him, showing him the world in pieces he could handle. Along came Laura up in Washington who expressed interest in Markus and we connected Laura with Pauline….one week, multiple emails, later…Laura came down, met Pauline and Markus in person, met us for paperwork and high fives, and away Laura and Markus went back to Washington. Huskies are "special" dogs requiring special handling and homes….and we could not have ask for a more informative adoption matching than what Pauline and Laura accomplished. We were proud bystanders and ecstatic deal-sealers. We think Markus hit the double jackpot –thanks Pauline, Laura, and Markus!
