We are often asked what makes BrightSide different from other animal shelters. After all, we all share the goal of finding loving, lasting homes for animals who need them.
At BrightSide, we are committed to our high-save mission. That means we do everything we possibly can to find a home for each animal.
It means that euthanasia is a last resort only when necessary to relieve suffering, or because an animal’s behavior problems are so incorrigible he or she is a danger to the community. As a result, we have a save rate of 98 percent, one of the highest in the country.
It means we are patient. Sometimes it takes a long time for a pet to find the family who will love him. We are willing to give pets the time it takes. This gallery shows our most patient dogs, all of whom now have the homes they waited for, with families who love them. It is why we do what we do.
